Requesting an FBI Background Report
Individuals planning to apply for a Kentucky auctioneer license must request a copy of their identification record (FBI Background report) prior to applying for your initial license.
- To obtain an FBI report, visit this website: https://www.edo.cjis.gov/#/¿ and click Learn More under the heading "Obtaining Your Identity History Summary." You will need to "Submit a Request" and provide an email address to initiate the application process. A secure barcode-link, along with a personal identification number, will be sent to the specified address and will be used to complete the online application.
- The next step is the take your FBI barcode-link and personal identification number sent to your email address to a participating United States Post Office. You can find that list here. The Post Office will then verify your personal information, scan your fingerprints and send them off to the FBI.

Report information:
- All FBI reports expire 90 days after the report date of issuance.
- The Board of Auctioneers cannot issue a license without a valid FBI report.
- You have 45 days to apply for your license after successfully passing the exam.
- Mail your completed license application, FBI report, and license fee together.
